Citi was a top lender to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Now they are funding TransCanada, Kinder Morgan, and Enbridge — three companies trying to build tar sands pipelines through Indigenous lands and against the will of Indigenous peoples.
Tell Edward Skyler, Citi’s Executive Vice President of Global Public Affairs that Citi must respect Indigenous rights and stop funding environmental destruction and human rights abuses now!
Dear Edward Skyler:
No more empty Citi promises!
Citi has already funded the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). And when Citi was called out for the human rights abuses surrounding that project, Citi made statements supporting Indigenous rights.
But you are still funding TransCanada, Kinder Morgan, and Enbridge — three companies trying to build tar sands pipelines without the consent of Indigenous peoples and that will wreak havoc on Indigenous lands and water. More than 120 Canadian First Nations and U.S. tribes have formally opposed these pipelines in the Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands.
Why are you still bankrolling these disasters waiting to happen?
I am calling on you to show that you’ve learned from DAPL. End your relationships with these companies to avoid financing projects that abuse Indigenous rights and jeopardize our shared climate!
