Ferrero: Stop spreading destruction

A balanced blend of rainforest destruction, land grabs and worker exploitation … That’s what Ferrero’s famous hazelnut spread, Nutella, is truly made of. And hundreds of millions of jars are sold worldwide every year, with literal tonnes of Conflict Palm Oil in them.

Tell Ferrero now to stop spreading the destruction and commit to policies that protect both rainforests and the people who depend on them.

To Ferrero North America,

A recent report by Rainforest Action Network evaluated how influential banks and brands are treating rainforests and the people who depend on them. The report found that Ferrero has failed to take adequate action to address its contribution to the destruction of forests, ongoing land grabs, and violence against local and Indigenous communities.

I call on your company to immediately investigate and disclose the footprint of your supply chains and investments on global forests, peatlands, and Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities. And to immediately adopt and implement ‘No Deforestation, No Peatland and No Exploitation’ (NDPE) policies across all commodities, and adopt a zero tolerance policy for violence and intimidation of human rights defenders.

Please show the world that your company is taking the urgent climate, biodiversity, and human rights crisis seriously. We still have a chance to keep forests standing, but there is no time to waste.

Kind regards,
