To Mondelēz International and Nestlé:
As two of the biggest snack producers and buyers of forest-risk commodities in the world, Mondelēz and Nestlé have a major responsibility to protect humanity’s remaining rainforests, our global climate and human rights.
Numerous investigations have nonetheless found ties between Mondelēz and Nestlé and suppliers who wreak havoc on priceless ecosystems, including Indonesia’s Leuser Ecosystem.
One of these suppliers, Royal Golden Eagle, has connections to destruction of critical Sumatran elephant and orangutan habitat and theft of Indigenous lands in the Pargamanan-Bintang Maria community of North Sumatra.
When you do business with unscrupulous suppliers like RGE, you tell consumers that Mondelēz and Nestlé are greedy for short-term profits at the expense of crucial ecosystems, endangered species and the rights of frontline communities.
It’s imperative both for people and the planet that Mondelēz and Nestlé act NOW to publicly end their relationship with shady suppliers, terminating all sourcing from RGE and its full corporate group immediately.
Kind Regards,
