Forests & Climate: Like Jen & Ben

Some of the best things come in twos, like J.Lo and Ben Affleck and, yes, Forests and Climate. But the banks have gone "all tabloid" on our precious duo, injecting TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN BILLION dollars into deforestation-linked agricultural sectors since the Paris Agreement, shattering the sacred bond between healthy forests and a stable global climate. Help us tell them NO MORE at this year's COP27 global climate summit in Egypt!

To JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley:

Your reckless financing is directly linked to climate change and deforestation.

When you finance fossil fuels and the companies that destroy our forests, you cause a crisis on two fronts: A warming planet and the loss of our very best carbon-capture technology, forests.

It is inexcusable that you knowingly make our planet less habitable and increase our suffering by double-funding climate chaos, all in the name of profit. As a matter of urgency, we demand that your financial institutions:

- Immediately implement strong No Deforestation or Conversion, No Peatland and No Exploitation (NDPE) policies that cover all sectors;

- Immediately implement policies that fully respect the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities and that establish zero tolerance for violence against right defenders;

- Ensure that the projects and companies you finance are aligned with the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Kind Regards,
