The Lafcadio Fund exists to carry on the work of Lafcadio Cortesi, a dynamic and charismatic champion for the environment and human rights whose storied career spanned four decades, seven continents and five major environmental organizations. His particular passion was Indonesia, where he forged enduring friendships and powerful collaborations with countless individuals, groups, and movements in pursuit of his vision of a green and peaceful country.
One of his many legacies is the Samdhana Institute, which he co-founded in 2003 to help invigorate a “cultural revival” of activists and artists dedicated to preserving the richness of the natural, cultural, and spiritual diversity of Indonesia.
All funds raised will be distributed by the Samdhana Institute to individuals and groups in Indonesia who share Lafcadio’s vision.
