Tell Major Brands: Keep Rainforest Destruction Out of Your Palm Oil!

Hershey’s, Mars, Nestlé, PepsiCo, General Mills, and Mondelēz must make good on their promises to keep deforestation and exploitation out of their palm oil supply chains.

RAN’s new investigation exposes hidden palm oil sourcing linked to rainforest destruction. These companies have been notified. Now they must act.

Sign below demanding these brands investigate, suspend sourcing from implicated Fangiono companies, and require verified forest and human rights protections before buying again.

We’ll deliver your messages at the upcoming Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil meeting.

Hershey’s, Mars, PepsiCo, General Mills, and Mondelēz:

I expect your promises of No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) palm oil to mean something.

Rainforest Action Network’s investigation documents evidence of palm oil entering the First Resources supply chain from plantations that are deforesting and operating without the legally required permits. These sources are missing from First Resource’s disclosures. It also reveals financial systems, management and supply chain routes connecting First Resources, FAP Agri, and the KAS Group within the wider Fangiono network.

These findings demand action across the group. Switching mills or buying from another linked company does not resolve failures in shared systems.

I urge you to:

  • Investigate independently. Examine RAN’s findings and your exposure to the Fangiono group, and publicly disclose your findings and actions.
  • Suspend sourcing across the group. Instruct your suppliers to exclude palm oil from the Fangiono entities identified in RAN’s grievance, and ensure that this applies throughout your supply chain.
  • Set clear conditions for re-entry. Require independently verified implementation of NDPE commitments across the group, alongside a public commitment to protect Mahakam Ulu through no further concession development.

Forests and communities should not pay the price for hidden sourcing. Please act on this information and show how you will keep your commitments.
